We drove to Certaldo - not that easy to find - signposting is
interesting - again we were very pleased to have James driving! We met
Elio at the train station and he was FANTASTIC - Certaldo Alto was a
real highlight of our trip. We followed him up to Certaldo Alto and
went to our beautiful apartment in the amazing medieval village on the
hilltop. He was SO helpful and spent ages with us giving advise about
what to see, where to eat, maps etc and we loved him to pieces. The
apartment really was fantastic and had everything possible available to
us. We loved it all and could well have spent a week there. We loved the
restaurant close to us so much that we ate there 2 nights overlooking
the beautiful Tuscan hills. He would have taken us to a winery and a
farm if we had been there for longer. I would highly recommend Elio and
his accom to anyone. We had to "take a special cappuccino" with him,
before we left! We enjoyed having a car and went to Siena, San
Gimignano and Volterra in one day!!! We also managed to go there via
Pisa to see the Leaning Tower! We trained to Florence for a day - very
easy from Certaldo

| Excellent villa for families. It actually exceeded my expectations. In addition, the website does not begin to describe how wonderful the village of Certaldo Alto is.It is interesting and the children in our party enjoyed it very much. Good selection of places to eat close by and an excellent location for day trips by rail. It's also a great location if you have a car and plan to visit other hill towns by car. . We were close to several very good restaurants on top of the hill and others at the bottom of the hill. Additionally, the train station was very close, so we were able to reach Florence, Sienna and even Rome for easy, comfortable day trips. The village of Certaldo Aldo was charming and interesting. There are several good restaurants that allowed for al fresco dining (when the weather permitted) that served very good food. The people were met were all friendly and helpful, even though we did not speak any Italian. There is also a beautiful nature walk in the general area across the tops of the hills that was lovely. The owner was extraordinarily friendly and helpful
I would highly recommend this place.
