MAIN DESCRIPTION
Wonderful castle with a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The original structure of this castle dates back to the 12th century; in the 17th century it was transformed into a beautiful villa by the noble family of Acciaioli, who made Montegfuoni castle their summer residence.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the English noble family of the Sitwell acquired the castle and restored it to its past beauty and charm. Over the many events passing in Montegufoni, the castle during World War 2 became a deposit for the Uffizi masterpieces.
Finally in 1972, the Posarelli family bought the castle and lately they opened it to tourists from all over the world that can enjoy its beauty, history and its art. The castle is part of a large estate producing Chianti wine and olive oil.
Montegufoni Classic is a selection of the most charming and historical apartments inside the walls of the castle.
These apartments are furnished with antique pieces and some offer beautiful frescoes that allow their clients to experience the unique atmosphere of a real castle.
Distances: Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 8.30 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30.
A nice restaurant with a cuisine based on recipes of the local tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Wednesdays).
Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 52,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 77,- / per week) both payable locally.
Maid service available by arrangement (€ 12,- / per hour – payment on the spot). Shared laundry available (€ 3,- / per washing).
