The foundation of the city of Cortona dates back to the roots of civilization, that is to say to the Etruscan age. The city centre of Cortona dates back to the medieval age, it is sunny and well kept and a walk around will probably take you to one of the nice shops with typical handmade draperies. Cortona is a good place for shopping for your home!
From a gastronomic point of view, Cortona definitely worth a visit, for its numerous excellent restaurants and typical wine bars and Trattorias. A typical snack in Cortona is the "Ciaccia fritta" (fried flat bread), which is also known with other names in many other towns in Tuscany and all across Italy (ficattole, zonzelle.). |
