Petralia Soprana, known also as the City with Two Castles, is a lovely landscape in the Province of Palermo, it is located about 70 km southeast of Palermo, in Sicily, right in the heart of the natural park of Madonie.Petralia Soprana stands on a mountainous internal area, and is 1.147 Meters above sea level.
The origins of the town of Petralia Soprana date back to the Greek domination in Sicily, and it has also been occupied by Carthaginians and Romans, but its climax in splendor was during the passage from the Arab to the Norman domination.
The main monument to visit in Petralia Soprana is Chiesa Madre (XIVth century then restored and widened in 1700) and, while you are in Petralia Soprana, the Belvedere 'u castru (Castle's lookout in dialect) worth surely a visit.
