About Tuoro Sul Trasimeno
Tuoro sul Trasimeno is a small town, mainly an agricultural centre, located Midway between Perugia and Arezzo, in the region of Umbria, in Italy.
They say that it was in Tuoro sul Trasimeno that the battle of Lake Trasimenus was took place in 217 B.C.. During the battle of Lake Trasimenus, Hannibal delivered a crushing defeat to the Roman army in the Second Punic War.
This battle remains the main tourist attraction: there is a small museum of interest to Roman army buffs, and a few of the cremation sites may still be seen, through guided tours.
Tuoro sul Trasimeno has many small villages and hamlets under his jurisdiction, such as Borghetto, Isola Maggiore (a beautiful and picturesque island right in the middle of the lake Trasimeno), Piazzano and Verrazzano.
