About Galleno
Galleno is a small town, located between San Miniato and Altopascio, in Tuscany, on the famous Via Francigena, also known as Via Romea, which for centuries was used by merchants, prelates, soldiers and pilgrims traveling to and fro the north of Europe to Rome and Jerusalem, carrying ideas as well as money and produce.
These people traveled on foot or on mules and horses, and rarely by cart because the conditions of the road vary continually.
Walking along the Via Francigena will give you the chance to enjoy the amazing apanorama on the rolling Tuscan hills and countryside and it is all dotted with farmhouses and pretty towns such as Galleno, where you could have a pit-stop for some refreshments.
