About Terrasini
Terrasini is a town in the Province of Palermo on the island of Sicily in Italy.Terrasini is located 30 km west from Palermo, between Palermo and Trapani, between the mountains and the Gulf of Castellammare near the Palermo International Airport.
Local people of Terrasini work mainly in fishing and tourism industry.During summer, tourists are overflowed in Terrasini because of its pleasant atmosphere and hospitality.
The name of Terrasini, probably, comes from the Latin wording terra sinus, that is to say "land at the gulf", or maybe from terra sinorum, which means "land of the bays" due to the strongly curved coastline with a large number of larger and smaller bays, this is why Terrasini territory is very well known for its beautiful small stones beaches and rocks. Terrasini coastline is astonishing for its variety of colors and different atmospheres.
It is interesting to note that the grottoes in the area of Terrasini were inhabited already in the late Paleolithic times. On different sites, tracks of Roman settlers were found.
Terrasini has three interesting museums which worth a visit: the Museo del Caretto (ethno-anthropological section), where you will be able to see a variety of different typical Sicilian carriages, the Antiquarium and the museum of history of nature.
