Salina is one of the famous and renowned islands that make up the Aeolian archipelago; there are seven islands of volcanic origin (Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi and Panarea) which are located in the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north of the Sicilian coastline.

This splendid villa is surrounded by a natural oasis of Mediterranean bush land and wide expanses of Malvasia vineyards and caper fields; behind the property is Mount Porri and in front, an astounding sea view; all of this makes L’Ulivo di Pollara the perfect place for those who want to spend the holiday of their dreams beside the sea!

L’ulivo di Pollara has recently been fully renovated and consists of one main building with a separate annex; in all there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and it can comfortably welcome up to 4 guests.

Inside it has been lovingly cared for with examples of traditional exposed beam ceilings as well as classic, artisan Majolica pottery; the furnishings are rustic and deliberately simple, maintaining the style of a typical island home.

An external dining area beneath the front porch is the highlight of the property; from here you can relax and eat whilst taking in the breath taking panoramic views across the sea, with the islands of Alcudi and Filicudi standing out proudly on the horizon. There are also two hammocks to enjoy beneath the porch. The large sun terraces make this villa the perfect spot to relax together with friends and family beneath the warming Sicilian sun.

A path leads down to the enchanting Bay of Pollara and rises up into an ancient crater that overhangs the sea. This bay was made famous by the director Massimo Troisi, who filmed a number of scenes here for the celebrated Italian film, ‘Il Postino’ (The Postman). You will never forget swimming in the crystal clear waters of the island, surrounded by scenery of an astonishing beauty.

L’ulivo di Pollara is perfectly located to get easily into the centre of Malfa and all of the facilities it offers, whilst he beaches of Scario (a pebble beach) and Rinella (sandy) are easily accessible, being around 12km away.

From Salina you can also get to the other islands in the Aeolian Archipelago via a hydrofoil service including Lipari and Stromboli, with its active volcano!
