On the slopes of Montalbano stands a small village called Vinci. Into its narrow streets was born a man (whom to call a man is diminutive) who revolutionised the figurative arts, the history of thought and science. He was the illegitimate son of a notary, and soon took an interest in art: at the age of 17, he was already enrolled in the Florentine Company of Painters. He was a pupil of the great Verrocchio but the influence of the Pollaiolo school was evident in his work.In the meantime, he juggled as a musician at the court of Lorenzo Il Magnifico, illustrated his ideas for architectural works to Ludovico il Moro and worked as a painter and scenographer for the Sforza family. The multifaceted genius was called Leonardo and we are proud to introduce you to his hometown.
THE CITY
Vinci is an Italian municipality of 14 576 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Florence in Tuscany. It is situated on the Montalbano, a hilly massif rich in vineyards and olive groves and terraces supported by characteristic dry-stone walls.
The oldest part of Vinci has an almond-shaped plan, unusual in this part of Tuscany. Seen from above, it suggests a two-masted vessel (where the two masts would be the tower of the Rocca dei Conti Guidi and the bell tower of the church of Santa Croce). The historic centre of Leonardo's village is also known, for this reason, as 'Castel della Nave'. The village in its small size offers unmissable attractions and events to all its visitors.
A visit to the 'City of Leonardo' starts from Piazza dei Guidi and the terrace with the large wooden sculpture of the Vitruvian Man, one of his best-known designs.
Now let's see what else you can do in a day in Vinci!
THE ATTRACTIONS Biblioteca Leonardiana: The creation of the Biblioteca Leonardiana dates back to the early 20th century and is closely linked to the figure of Gustavo Uzielli, one of the greatest Leonardo da Vinci scholars of the second half of the 19th century. His efforts, and those of the Vinci administration, to establish a Leonardo Library in Leonardo's hometown came to fruition in 1928, partly as a result of the Municipality of Vinci's acquisition of the Leonardo collection from Gustavo Uzielli's private library. In recent decades, the Biblioteca Leonardiana has increasingly become not only a documentary centre, but also a bibliographical information centre for Leonardo studies through the Bibliografia Internazionale Leonardiana (BIL), which systematically updates the bibliographical repertory of works by and on Leonardo da Vinci and includes thematic bibliographies, some of which are dedicated to protagonists of Leonardo studies. Today, the Library holds around 22,000 works by and about Leonardo and it is possible to view numerous facsimile reproductions of all his manuscripts and drawings and all his printed works starting with the first edition of the Treatise on Painting in 1651. The building is open to the public daily for consultation and loan. The Library can also be visited by appointment for schools and groups who can thus discover Leonardo's manuscript works reproduced as if from life.
Museo Leonardiano di Vinci: The idea of dedicating a museum to Leonardo was born in 1919 in honour of the fourth centenary of his death. At that time, the Conti Guidi Castle was donated to the municipality of Vinci and restoration work began. In 1953, the museum was ready to open, but it still shared space with the Biblioteca Leonardiana. From 1986 to 2010, a series of renovations and extensions were carried out: today the museum extends into the Uzielli building, the Conti Guidi Castle and the Villa il Ferrale. Each space houses different works, grouped by theme:
1. In Palazzina Uzielli, the video installation 'Leonardo's Mechanics' introduces the visitor to the main theme to which the collection is dedicated: Leonardo the Technologist and Engineer. The tour continues with sections devoted to construction machinery, textile technology, mechanical watches and anatomical studies.2. In the Castle, the former home of the Guidi family, are machines and models documenting Leonardo's interests in war, architecture, mechanics and flight3. The Villa il Ferrale houses the Leonardo and Painting section, bringing together in one place reproductions of all Leonardo's paintings and some of his most significant drawings.
Leonardo's Birthplace: Also called the House of Anchiano, it can be reached either by car or by bus. The Birthplace is also connected to the village by the Strada Verde (Green Road), an ancient footpath of about 3 km that can be travelled on foot. The House houses part of the exhibition route that invites visitors to discover the places and scenarios that first inspired Leonardo's work.If you don't want to miss any of Vinci's attractions, stay in our Casa Lionardo: just 150 metres from Leonardo's birthplace mentioned above, this villa with private pool is a unique location. Did you know that during the periods when it is not rented it is the venue for cultural events celebrating the Genius Leonardo?

Team building, management training, corporate training, group building and team development.Team building refers to all those activities and processes that serve to make a group of people interact in order to improve their ability to work as a team. Activities can be formative and educational, but also experiential or purely playful. In which contexts is it useful to carry out team building activities?- In corporate contexts: to motivate and incentivise a team, improve communication and collaboration.- During a trip.- In a group of friends: to create team spirit and fellowship. How many types of team building are there?Four main types of team building activities can be identified, namely:1. Communication activities.2. Problem solving and/or decision-making activities.3. Adaptability and/or planning activities.4. Activities that focus on building trust.Have you ever heard of this activity? Have you ever tried anything like it?Read on to discover our suggestions.
SIMPLE TEAM BUILDING IN ONE OF OUR VILLASTeam building activities do not have to be expensive or demanding, depending on the needs and composition of your group the following activities could be perfect for you.It is important to choose the activities carefully, taking into account the people who will be doing them: team building should be inclusive.Let's take a look at some activities that you could do in one of the halls of our villas:
1. BLIND DRAWING Divide the team into groups of two and have them sit with their backs to each other. The participants should be able to draw what their partner is describing in words. The storyteller can describe shape, size and material, but cannot say 'Draw a flower'. In order to find out whether people have managed to communicate adequately, the drawings should be compared with the original once completed.
2. COPY BUT NOT TOO MUCH Create a structure with Lego bricks and hide it in a room with restricted access. Then divide the team into groups of two to four people and give them the bricks they need to reproduce the structure in 30 minutes or less.
One player per group can peek at the original structure for 15 seconds, then return to the location and describe it to the others. The person who can take a peek changes in rotation, so that everyone can see the original. The group that completes the structure closest to the original first wins!
3. SALT AND PEPPERMake a list of things that go well together, such as salt and pepper, day and night, bread and jam, or yin and yang. Write these words on pieces of paper and fasten one on the back of each team member. The team members will have to socialise and find out what is written on their backs by asking questions that can only be answered with yes or no . Once you have discovered your identity, you will have to find the other half of the pair.
Have team building activities intrigued you?
Wait for the next article to discover more suggestions for outdoor activities, in the meantime let us know if you need a villa where you can spend a team building week.

If you have already read some of the articles on the Posarelli Villas blog you will be familiar with our Guide to Italy. This small manual is designed for our clients (and not only). Arriving on holiday prepared will allow you to avoid making beginner "mistakes" that could compromise your wonderful stay.
Today we want to give you some concrete tips on how best to spend your days in Italy.
1. SEPARATE WASTE COLLECTION When in Rome, do as the Romans do. As you know, separate waste collection is the sorting and separation of materials for subsequent recycling. Each municipality gives precise indications on how to dispose of waste correctly, but there are general rules applicable throughout Italy.
Let's find out together:- Pay attention to the wording on the bin, you will usually find indications for glass, plastic, paper and organic waste
- Rinse dirty bottles and containers: for pizza boxes you can't, but products such as glass jars of spreadable creams, washing-up liquid or tuna cans you can.
- Separate different materials: it happens that the cardboard of pasta packaging has an easily removable plastic band, in this and other cases you have to separate the materials and place them in the relevant containers. Some municipalities have even launched an app that shows you the correct destination of waste: just scan the barcode with your smartphone camera.
- Each municipality has its own set day for waste collection, you will certainly find this information in your rental house or on the municipality's website.
2. GROCERY SHOPPINGIn addition to trying out all the restaurants you can imagine, you will need a few basic necessities and a few ingredients to prepare a meal on the spot.
In addition to pasta and some ready-made sauces (tomato puree and pesto are our favourites) we recommend you also pick up some vegetables, but beware: use gloves!
In most Italian supermarkets you can find fruit and vegetables in bulk, you will find little columns with bags and gloves. Pay attention to this detail, it is bad manners to touch food with bare hands.
In some chains you will have to weigh the products yourself on scales: each fruit/vegetable is assigned a number. A label will then be printed and attached to the bag.
In supermarkets you will also find butcher's, baker's and fishmonger's departments: fresh produce is delicious, but don't forget to take the number if you want to be served!
3. PUBLIC TRANSPORTIf you don't want to rent a car or scooter to explore Italy, here are some things to know before using public transport:
- Before taking a bus make sure you have a ticket: once on board you will only be able to buy a ticket with exact cash and at a premium. Do not forget to validate your ticket, otherwise you will be liable to a fine.
- For paper regional train tickets, it is necessary to validate them: at every station you will find ticket machines where you can insert your ticket. If you are late and cannot buy your ticket, you can purchase it on the train: look for the ticket inspector immediately, otherwise it will be difficult to avoid a penalty. Were our suggestions helpful? Let us know.

Imagine sitting by the pool and admiring the view. The light blue sky mingles with the blue of the infinity pool over the sea, creating an exciting symphony of colours. The gentle breeze caresses your skin. Your eyes are almost half-closed, you are about to surrender to the arms of Morpheus, also helped by the delicate fragrance emanating from your freshly washed beach towel.
You feel as if you have found peace of mind.
"But what are we having for lunch?"The bone of contention. Seven miserable words hanging in the air, there lurking to damage your nothingness plans for the day.
Panic is now unleashed, a silent panic, fuelled by lightning-fast glances, which are not followed by any move. No one wants to abandon their fort, nothing new from the pool front, let alone the hammock front: everyone knows that the first one to take a step will be the one chosen to prepare lunch.
"We became tough, distrustful, ruthless, vindictive, crude; and that was good: those were the very qualities we lacked" (Enrich Maria Remarque - All Quiet on the Western Front )So how do we avoid another world conflict?
Simple: read on.
MR BOBOS FOOD TRUCK: A GUARANTEE
Today we would like to introduce you to the MrBobos Food Truck: a truck located just a few steps away from our Seasun and Seawave villas (but also easily reachable from Arete, Nafsika and Athena or Ebellina) that serves typical Greek dishes at lightning speed.
Opened and inaugurated not even a year ago, it has already won the hearts (and palates) of all those who have tried it at least once. We who are now regular customers can say that we are married to Bobos' cuisine.
The success of MrBobos, apart from the quality, is also due to its strategic location: the van is in fact just a few metres from the beach of St.Spyridon, it takes only 5 minutes on foot to get there from the beach (if you are hungry even less, it is amazing how fast we walk when our bellies growl).
So to recap, great location, sublime quality, honest prices, but what do you eat at Bobos?
In the paragraph below you can find his menu.
FROM SALAD TO KEBAB: ALL THIS IN A FOOD TRUCKGreek salad for the health-conscious, a delicious Caesar salad for the nostalgic and chef's salad for the curious.
If dieting is the least of your worries, let the Greek pita stuffed with pork and chicken win you over.
Our dispassionate advice? Try the Halloumi!
Check out the menu here. New dishes are offered daily, so stay tuned by following their Facebook page.
We conclude this article by telling you that the owners of Mrbobos also run an excellent typical restaurant Jelatis Corfu: the same authenticity as the food truck dishes but with more choice and seating.

Life is becoming more and more hectic: rhythms are tight and moments of relaxation are few. Every day we worry about others (family, friends, colleagues), we work with our heads down with artificial postures, we do not get the right nutrients because there is little time for a lunch break. Every day, therefore, we forget an important factor: our health.
Health is defined as a state of total physical, mental and social well-being and not just an absence of illness. At least for today, let someone take care of you and suggest the best spas in Tuscany where you can switch off and pamper your body (and why not also your soul).Tuscany is known for its art, culture and history, but the spas are also remarkable. Already the Etruscans and Romans appreciated the positive effects of a thermal cure in Tuscany.
But what is thermal water?
Thermal water is water that comes out of the spring at a temperature of at least 20 degrees. The proportion of minerals and natural ingredients varies depending on the water and the region. The thermal water of Tuscany is known for its high content of fluoride, magnesium and sulphur. The valuable minerals and ingredients are absorbed through the skin while bathing in thermal pools.
The thermal springs of Tuscany are used for various purposes. They help, for example, to alleviate ailments such as rheumatism, metabolic disorders, gout and gastritis, but are also used for inflammation, skin problems and psoriasis.
The prodigious thermal water has been proven to lower stress levels and can even help prevent burnout, it also strengthens the immune system and stimulates blood circulation.
Read on to find out where to spend a day of relaxation and personal care.
1. CASCATE DEL MULINO (Maremma Toscana)Also known as the Cascatelle di Saturnia are a natural paradise in the Tuscan Maremma, reachable by following the provincial road SP10.
The Cascatelle del Mulino are a magical place, created by the power of nature, where sulphurous waters gush forth at 37.5 C from the natural Gorello spring. The special feature of these pools is the thermal plankton that has beneficial effects on the skin, digestive, circulatory and motor systems.
The waterfalls are open 24 hours a day every day of the week and have free admission. You can park your car in the designated parking area and walk to the thermal baths. You will also find a bar with changing rooms and toilets.
2. GROTTA GIUSTI SPA (Monsummano Terme)The poetry of nature combined with human savoir faire, a single phrase that best describes what you will find at the Grotta Giusti thermal spa resort. The Grotta Giusti thermal spa resort is located in Monsummano Terme in Pistoia and offers an unforgettable experience to all its guests.
Spending a day at Grotta Giusti you can enjoy the large outdoor thermal pool. You will have a 750 square metre thermal pool at your disposal where you can relax and be lulled by the water jets of the innovative whirlpools. Are you frightened by low winter temperatures? The experience at this thermal complex will soon be made possible even in the coldest season: a telescopic glass structure with double inlet will keep the heat inside. Rain and cold outside, a tropical oasis inside. Even the floors will be heated.
Think you've reached the pinnacle? You still haven't read about the steam bath in the natural grotto. The secret treasure of the resort is in fact the natural grotto, which offers 34-degree thermal steam with a health-promoting effect. The panacea for relieving stress and muscle tension.
3. BAGNI SAN FILIPPO (Castiglione d'Orcia)Relaxation is for everyone, and that is why we would like to conclude our article by proposing free thermal baths within walking distance of the municipality of Castiglione d'Orcia.
The San filippo baths have free admission and are also frequented by locals.
What you will find before you is a white landscape, created by the presence of boron in the waters. The water that will pamper you is at a temperature of 52 C and is particularly indicated for the treatment of osteo-neuro-articular diseases, ear, nose and throat diseases, respiratory diseases, and dermatological diseases.Have we satisfied you? If you are not completely fulfilled wait for the second part of the article on spas in Tuscany, we have more surprises for you!© Rebecca Taizzani

Booking a villa with us is easy, but will juggling Italian culture be as intuitive?Habits, customs, superstitions, sayings; all this at once can be difficult to assimilate and the risk is to be overwhelmed. Here then, as good Italians, we step in to pave the way for you and mentally prepare you for the thousand facets of our beautiful country (a little healthy patriotism never hurts). As promised in the previous article, we are creating a Guide to Italy from which you can take inspiration so as not to make mistakes that could compromise your holiday. Are you ready for a round-up of tips and secrets? At the end of the page you will also find a gift for you.So let's get started, today we will focus on food and drink in Italy.
1. A CAPPUCCINO A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAYBreakfast is the most important meal of the day and the right time to indulge in a cappuccino: note that it is the only time Italians indulge in this type of drink.
To be a perfect local, we recommend pairing your cappuccino with a croissant or 'breakfast pastry': pastries usually made of puff pastry filled to your liking: from cream to apple jam.
Extra tip: don't order a 'latte' unless you want a straight glass of milk, in Italy it is not a well-known drink and it confuses most baristas (don't scare them, they are an endangered species).
2. MID-MORNING BREAKIt's summer, it's hot and you are wandering around the narrow streets of a city of art, you miss your iced coffee and enter the first bar to order it: don't do it.
The iced coffee is not very well known in Italy (except in rare cases), our advice is to order a 'crema di caffè'. The crema di caffè is somewhere between heaven and a winning lottery ticket. Made with espresso coffee, cream and icing sugar, it will give you the right boost to continue your business.
3. WHAT ABOUT LUNCH?Finding a restaurant on the spur of the moment is not easy, our advice is to always have a look at TripAdvisor, but when you can't, here are the rules to keep in your head.
1. Look at the menus on display and have a look at the prices
2. Look at the opening times, typical restaurants open around 12.30 for lunch and around 7/7.30 for dinner. In Italy you eat late ( compared to England or Spain).
3. If you find dishes like Alfredo chicken pasta, pepperoni pizza on the menu: get out, fast. You are in Italy, try grandma's fettuccine, pizza with a high, thick crust, a good rare steak.
4. Busy does not always equal better, if a restaurant looks like the dining room of grandma's house it will probably be authentic and delicious! (nothing to take away from the very good modern cuisine restaurants, but I will tell you about those in another article).
We hope you find these tips useful and look forward to seeing you in one of our Villas! EXTRA TIPS: If you want to feel like a real Italian, use these words to complain: they are few, simple but impressive. " MAMMA MIA, MADONNA MIA, MA DAVVERO "
If you implement our tips let us know! Do you have anything else to add?© Rebecca Taizzani

As you well know, every country has its own customs, its own habits and its own rhythms.
Travelling is wonderful because it allows us to open our minds, to fill ourselves with ideas, to acquire a critical sense, to accept others for who they are .
In short, told like this, it may seem all well and good, but sometimes in the midst of our travels we find ourselves a little disoriented.
How many of you have ordered a cappuccino at lunch and been looked down upon? How many of you have ordered a latte thinking you were getting some kind of macchiato coffee? Or how many have shown up for dinner at 6pm to find that the chef hadn't even arrived yet?
These are routine scenes (sooner or later we will tell you about all our gaffes), so to spare you a few nasty surprises and a bit of embarrassment, we have decided to put together a guide to Italy.
In this section you will not find tips on what to visit or where to go for an aperitif (this one here) or even which beach is the best (I would take a look here if I were you).
This guide can be intended as a Bon Ton manual to Italy.
Our idea is to create a compendium with notions that will enable you to have an unforgettable holiday: after all, it would be a shame to ruin your stay in a magnificent villa with a private pool for trifles.
In the following articles we will try to cover all the relevant topics: from safety at the airport and the use of public transport to the aperitif or dinner.
Are you curious?
Run and read the next article and let us know what you think.

Summer is just around the corner but you still haven't decided on your destination. We know that there are countless places to visit and each one has something to offer: on one island you can find fantastic beaches, on another the wildest fun and on yet another absolute tranquillity.
How do you choose one?
Simple: choose Mykonos.
Mykonos is an Aegean island in the Cyclades archipelago. Although in the collective imagination Mykonos is synonymous with beach bars, discos and wild entertainment, the island also has a lot to offer to those who want to have a relaxing holiday.
Just choose the right places and the right times to fall in love with one of the most beautiful Greek islands. Mykonos is the island of pristine beaches, gourmet food: it is also the perfect island for couples holidays.
Our first tip is to choose the right accommodation, and who better than us to help you with this decision.
If you are travelling in a group, we highly recommend staying at our Horizon Blue: a magnificent villa with an infinity pool overlooking the sea. The ample spaces allow for conviviality without sacrificing privacy. Outside, you will find equipped areas and a kitchen with barbecue facilities.
Let's now move on to the 5 things to do in Mykonos
1. ADMIRE THE SUNSETS
The contrast between the orange of the sun and the white of the island's buildings creates a breathtaking scene.
- SUNSET WITHOUT EXPENSES: Mykonos can be very expensive, you have to be careful what you choose during your stay. Admiring the sunset from the Armenistis Lighthouse, however, will cost you nothing. Our advice? Grab a good wine and two snacks to make this moment perfect.
- SUNSET IN THE GARDEN: There is a small natural spot from which you can admire the sunsets in Mykonos, we are talking about The garden: an idyllic spot that formerly belonged to the famous Yehudi Menuhin, one of the most talented violinists of the 20th century. The garden fully represents his vision of life and offers an escape from the daily hustle and bustle.
- ICONIC SUNSET: at least once in your life you will have come across a picture of the 180 Sunset bar. A bar located on top of a hill that offers a 180-degree view of the city and embraces the surrounding landscape.
2. MOVIDA ON THE BEACH
We like relaxation, but we like the nightlife even more. Book a sunbed at one of the iconic beach clubs to dance from sunset until late at night. If you are looking for unbridled nightlife, we highly recommend the Tropicana, but if you are a more laid-back type, the Scorpios or Santanna are for you.
Our ace in the hole remains the Super Paradise establishment!
3. ROMANTIC DINNER ON FLOATING LOUNGERS
If you are looking for a place to spend a special evening Meraki mykonos is the place to be. Situated on the terrace of the 5-star Cavo Tagoo hotel, the restaurant offers different options: from an aperitif to a candlelit dinner lying on floating loungers.
If you are celebrating a special occasion when you book, ask for the floating table: it will be just you in the middle of the pool and they will offer you an exclusive tasting menu!
4. DINNER IN A TYPICAL TAVERN
Luxury is in the simple things and what could be simpler than a dinner of souvlaki, pita gyros and tzatziki? For us, nothing!
Here are some of our favourite tavernas where you can eat some great Greek food:
- Nikos Taverna (did you know it's also featured in the film Shirley Valentine?)
- Kiki's Taverna
- M-eating ( the dishes of the day are phenomenal)
- Giorgos & Marina Fisherman Tavern
5. PARTY TILL DAWN
You're on the island of fun, don't give up dancing until dawn with your friends. Our favourite clubs are: Cavo paradiso and Ftelia Pacha.
Cavo paradiso is located on a promontory above Paradise Beach. It was built with the utmost respect for its surroundings and hosts international DJs every night. For the brave, we also recommend a dip in the swimming pool in the middle of the club.
If you prefer to be accompanied by the sea breeze and dance with your feet in the sand, choose Ftelia Pacha. Here too you will find international DJs who will accompany you until dawn.
